My work has a MakerBot replicator 5th gen that won’t allow me to level the build plate. It has the smart extruder+ on it and last time it jammed it did this. Any ideas on how to fix it? It just keeps pushing on the build plate forever.
Makerbot’s solution to this is to just buy another smart extruder. 
On the Rep Mini you can use makerware to “dumbify” the smart extruder. It will stop jamming so often. I will come back k later to tell you how.
