Is there a ‘gearhead’ style extruder (two gears both driving the filament rather than an idle bearing) with a lever that allows quick changing of filament?

@Printrbot has a design like this on YouMagine.

The printrbot and bondtech ones seem to require backing out and feeding in of filament using the motor, rather than a lever to allow disengagement of the gears to allow manual removal/feeding of filament.

I remember someone mentioning a design using similar gears but with a lever, but can’t find it!

@John_Davis Ah I see, so the 0.03 version does exactly this? Great

@Liam_Jackson That could possibly be me and the Recreus Double Drive extruder : https://plus.google.com/108714388018021121878/posts/MPVW3HAUdBb

@Steve_Wood_Gyrobot yes that’s the one! I assume still not available?

Think I’m going to to give the printrbot one a go for now!

@Liam_Jackson It is still in beta test. Definitely needs to be in steel for longevity of the sharp teeth. Under tests it provided an improvement for the constraint of Filaflex, the advantages for rigid materials is still unclear until the steel version is made.
