As of this morning’s update to Discourse 2.7.0.beta2, there are a few changes to how URLs you use in your posts will look.
Inline URL expansion
For a long time, https://forum.makerforums.info/t/new-to-k40-start-here/79751
has had the title substituted for the URL, and looked like New to K40: Start Here However, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poly(methyl_methacrylate)
has looked like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poly(methyl_methacrylate); now it looks like Poly(methyl methacrylate) - Wikipedia using the title of the page you link to even outside of Maker Forums.
URL section expansion
Also, if you post a link on a line by itself that includes a #section
“fragment” identifier, it will try to quote the section text that is associated with the heading you are referencing, even outside Maker Forums. For example, if you want to link to the wikipedia section on PMMA that refers to laser cutting, you might paste this link onto a single line, like this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poly(methyl_methacrylate)#Handling,_cutting,_and_joining
Previously, this would quote the top of the entire Poly(methyl methacrylate) - Wikipedia article and look like this:
However, now it quotes from the particular section you linked to, like this:
These changes will also apply if you edit an older post, but will not generally be applied retroactively to old posts.
