Anyone have much experience with the old felt-branch Prusa Mendel?

Anyone have much experience with the old felt-branch Prusa Mendel? How long did the felt pads last? – I printed/assembled these felt LM8UU surrogates, and I’m wondering if they’re worth putting to work, or if they’ll only last a couple months…

They feel snug, only have a teeny bit of give to them, and I bet they’re silent compared to my ball-bearing based LM8UUs.

Don’t you rebuild the printer more often than that anyway?

Yes…but…

Shush!

I wanna try Nylon bearings too.

I think nylon or similar would work well.

Anyone have a recommended nylon bearing .stl? Something like that would be good to print with the few meters of nylon I have to play with

I’m a fan of PLA bushings, but nylon might be nicer. I just printed a set of lm8uu’s in PLA from +RichRap’s latest Rostock post. He says they’re silent in nylon.

I’m not a fan of PLA bushings. They wear out way too damn fast. My very first iteration of my prusa used PLA bearings and I wouldn’t wish that hell on anyone.
