It’s funny that at 51 years of age I’m not quite old enough to ever have used a slide rule. 
The E6-B never runs out of batteries mid-flight, so (circular) slide rules still haven’t gone out of fashion in aviation:

Went through college with a slide rule.
Then the Bowman calculator arrived with “square root” on one button, my life changed!

My father got one of the first “Engineering/Scientific” calculators that HP released in 1971 He paid over $3000 for it back then. But it saved him countless hours of slide rule usage. Needless to say, I learned how to use his calculator with its funky reverse polish notation way of doing things.
