I don’t know that one is better than the other in this price range.
This is way more power than you need for 40watt so do not overdrive (current) your tube.
Apparently this a better and common replacement power supply and from what I have read the original type readily fails hence the upgrade, I just hope that this is where the problem lies. I’ll be fitting a 30mA ammeter today in preparation. Thanks for your help, I’ll report back at a later date.
Success! I have installed the new upgraded power supply along with a 24VDC power supply and an analogue ammeter and the K40 now works as it should and is communicating with my computer; nothing cut or etched as yet but not far away. Thanks to all for your help.
