To complement my previous post of RC overflies of Burning Man 2016,

To complement my previous post of RC overflies of Burning Man 2016, this video done from sunset to night, my favourite time:

Best enjoyed in 2.7K: Burning Man 2016 in 2.7K - RC Plane Overflies - Sunset to Night - Music (not a drone) (YT antishake) - YouTube
(or if you prefer the originaL RC sounds: Burning Man 2016 in 2.7K - RC Plane Overflies - Sunset to Night - RC Sounds - YouTube )

Details from the video description:

While this video is my favourite for its transition from sunset to night, parts of it were filmed in heavy wind (it peaked at 62km/h), so it’s not super steady and the last part is not framed well, hard to do when fighting the elements, sorry (the front lens also got covered by water vapour, making the image look a bit blurry).

Screenshots of the flight, and details on the RC plane used:

The video is shaky, sorry, that’s the nature of planes, and I kept the cameras inside the plane (i.e. not gyro stabilization) for efficiency of flight and safety in case the plane were to crash (it was made out of foam). This would look better shot from a drone, but I consider those unsafe to fly over people since if they fail they can cause serious injury, or worse (drone use is also restricted at burning man for that exact reason).

Interestng. I wonder how many people attend.

@Jim_Harrington around 70K people for a week.

@Marc_MERLIN Sounds wild. Bring your own shelter. Lotsa porta potties…

@Jim_Harrington a bit off topic for this forum, but you’ll find more info on http://marc.merlins.org/perso/bm/ click on 2002 and 2015
