The first time I printed this Swordfish (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:408809), I had to use raft. (Sign in - Google Accounts) This was due to the mismatched Ares firmware, and in part because I was trying hard to use clear glass. I was also experimenting with extreme speed with no retraction, which made the print super stringy.

This time, I have the correct Ares firmware, a super sticky blue tape, so I no longer need brim. Thin-wall support worked just fine. I also returned to Ares recommended speeds and retractions. This made a much better print. Build time increased by perhaps 80%, but instead of spending >5 hours cleaning up, a 20-minute cleaning did the job - actually a better job than 5-hour cleaning.
