Testing the BBB and armhf.com ubuntu as a monitoring platform with cacti / icinga

Testing the BBB and http://armhf.com ubuntu as a monitoring platform with cacti / icinga (nagios), for small hosting / office environments. Seems to work fine so far, no resource issues yet, even with mysql running as a backend datastore for cacti. Load hardly ever peaks over 0.5, although it reached 1 once. Also still fits comfortably in the 2GB eMMC.

Lots of small issues to resolve, had forgotten about many of the niggly bits of cacti and snmp, but as a platform the BBB is still solid. http://foto.a20.net/fb/897/20130622-bbb-cacti.jpg . Here it’s been graphing itself (cacti->snmpd) while also graphing and monitoring some other hosts, and doing munin on the side.
