Python(Open)SCAD has a new feature flattening a 3D model so that it can be printed, cut out and folded

Announced at:

https://old.reddit.com/r/pythonscad/comments/1b6zzef/creating_paper_solids_with_pythonscad/

I was able to pull a sample file into Carbide Create:

and after assigning appropriate layers:

Exported it to an SVG:

foldable_pg1

which was then printed, but rather than cut it out by a hand, a Toolpath was made in Carbide Create:

We then secured some paper on a cutting mat:

Installed a Stingray and disabled the BitSetter, set zero relative to the paper, loaded the file and cut:

Hang on while I do a bit of folding…

Turns out it’s a two-piece project and I also need the second page:

(not my image, that was from the developer explaining my only partial effort)
