That’s cool, but how heavy is the whole assembly? If it’s too heavy you’ll need beefier steppers than Nema 17s no?

@Jon_Charnas only 800 grams, you simply lower a bit the X acceleration and you are ok with Nema17. All my printers have Nema17 motors. This extruder perfectly retrofits Prusa i3 and similar printers, no need to change any hardware.

Nice. That would be very helpful for larger printers than i3-clones though, unless you’ve upsized your i3 to a 400 or 500mm build volume cube. How does it handle retractions/oozing when idle?

@Jon_Charnas Indeed you get most of the benefits with mid-larger printers, but also with standardr ones you can go faster (i.e. higher throughput, not necessarily higher XY speeds).
No retraction (which BTW would not work that well with large nozzles anyway), but for most of the mid-large applications works just fine. See attached pictures

@Jon_Charnas This one made with a 3 mm nozzle, with the extruder attached to a robotic arm. 3 kg in about 8 hours.
