Need help in making a robotic arm for the first time

I am trying to make a robotic arm which can detect wastes on the ground, pick them up and put it in the dust bin. I want to make it as cheap as possible, so I am planning to use 3 dc motors that I got from an old DVD player. Can someone help me how should I approach to making this project as a beginner? Which online resources should I use to learn specifically in regards to my project and what components will I need?

Hi, that sounds like a fun project. I recommend checking out https://learn.adafruit.com as they have a variety of relevant tutorials. Specifically, use the search function there to search for key words like motor, servo, and robot.
