Muffler - 'auto purge' Ultra quiet compressor

I have a nice 20 gallon California Air Ultra quiet air compressor. It is equipped with an ‘auto drain’. This ‘auto drain’ opens a solenoid that drains a little air from the bottom of the tank every few minutes.

It’s real quiet then all of a sudden this auto drain opens. It has my dog so scared she doesn’t want to go out there. It has cause me something near a coronary when it purged unexpectedly.

Apparently there are a number of us with this issue.

I looked for some kind of muffler for this and all the parts were way too expensive to build from plumbing parts.

I found these mufflers

I had ordered them, but couldn’t find any hardware to make some kind of manifold for them…

I finally resolved to use a 1/4 galvanized pipe T… worked well… but I have a few of the mufflers left…

This manifold is close to what I was looking for…

It’s a manifold for ‘air brushes’, so it has a maximum pressure of 1MPa (about 145 psi). My compressor upper limit is 175 lbs, but since there is not much resistance, I doubt it will be an issue. Just be aware.

Ended up with this…

The bottom connector is also from Amazon…

Hopefully this will help others with this issue save their dogs, ears, or maybe both.
