Although for half the price I can probably get a new tube and a chiller!!!

I also have a 15W diode laser and it has nowhere near the cutting capability as the ~30ish Watts of a stock K40. They are selling much high powered diode laser machines where they use multiple laser diodes combined together to get what’s called 40+W of power but they are not cheap.

So if you are doing mostly engraving of existing products( ie very little cutting ) then a diode laser for engraving in the 15-20W range could work for you.

Not so sure about getting a chiller and tube for that price. Don’t the chillers go for over $300?

As you now should know from reading those FAQs I mentioned, the stock K40 tube is a low grade tube so with a new 50W LPS and a “good” 40W tube you should be able to cut much better and engrave faster(to some extent).

You don’t really need a chiller most of us use ice buckets.
If you decide to keep it you need a temp sensor and temp interlock.
