I’m new to RC world and don’t know a lot of sources for the OpenRC Truggy project. Does someone have good sources and/or recommendations for the parts. The various BOMs I’ve found around are not complete. I’ve found sources for electronics, but would like recommendations on what to buy (cheap, but not junk). I also can’t find a US supplier for the CVD shafts from Conrad and can’t seem to find an equivalent. Can somebody help me out?

I can sympathize, I don’t really grasp BOM lists either and have no clue what a CVD shaft is. Forunately I am not ready yet to start building my own truggy. However, I believe the OpenRC Project’s home page on Google+ includes links to a few “official” BOM’s.

Good luck on locating a US source for parts.

Thanks for the link. I’ve found that bom and can source all the parts except for the cvds. All the open rc stuff I see refers to the Conrad websirlte and they don’t ship to US or Canada. I’ve seen other posts about some hobby king parts but none that say if they ordered parts actually work. I need a US source for the cvds. Thanks

I don’t know if you can view the comments…there is comment about a mismatch…
If you go for all metal differential you can go with HSP 188015 easy find on ebay from china.
and for information the HSP 188015 didn’t fit the plastic diff version

But Aliexpress will deliver to US.

@Giligain_I I’ve been looking at that thread, but those hobbyking shafts seem to be perpetually on back order. I suppose there really aren’t any other options unless you’re willing to fiddle with the design a bit yourself.

@Brian_Delaney
I didn’t verify availability from HobbyKing, but surely something can be substituted using the Aliexpress link I posted.
I’m not an active RC enthusiast, so my resource links are lacking.

Plan B: get an online friend in GB to get the part(s) shipped to there first from Conrad; and then have this friend forward the mail to you.

@Mark_Jansen
I tried to tag you on the post, couldn’t, but here is link instead:

He’s ordering from Conrad…

Thanks for the info - I’m going to go with the all metal drive train version and use the easily source parts.
