I was at a junkyard today and came across two pallets, roughly one cubic meter each, of solid 8020 bars. They’re each about half a meter long. Hundreds of them. I kinda want to build something just because they’re available.

what size?

What does the junkyard want for them? If they were new they would be worth about $10-20 a length depending on the series they are. And if that short a length is what you need. As scrap they’re worth maybe a buck or so a piece.

I’m pretty sure these are classed as aluminum scrap, which they sell for $2/pound. I’ll be back there pretty soon and will buy a couple and find out.

@John_Bump they’re making a good profit. Scrap clean aluminum extrusion is going for about 40 cents a pound here. Still depending on the profile those pieces may end up about a dollar each? Which is a lot cheaper than 8020 normally retails for.

What junkyard?
