I see that finishing techniques are all the rage now, so I’m wondering if anyone have tried using a tumbler for polishing printed parts? I know that shapeways use a tumbler for the polished materials.

Some people have tried it. IIRC, the results have been mostly lackluster. I think I remember someone saying that the prints always floated to the top when tumbled with anything heavy enough to be effective for smoothing.

It’s a nice second step after solvent smoothing. If you don’t want the gloss, print .2mm-.1mm, take the lines off with acetone vapor and then tumble it for a matte finish.

@Ian_Johnson what do you use for tumbling? Metal BBs?
