I have a gshield on an Arduino Uno running my Shapeoko 2. I want to make it an enclosure with a fan. What pins would I want to hook the fan up to for 12V? For 24V? For 5V? I am using the power brick that came with it.

The answer would be in your power supply pinout…

I am using the power brick that came with it.

I tried looking it up, surely didn’t find a clear answer… what about this?.. http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2633

I can’t seem to find a straight answer in that.

My brick is 24V.

I only use a 5v fan on top of the gshield. If you want a bigger fan you can’t pull power from the arduino. You would then have to use the gshield.

@Marc_Schaefermeyer could you tell me the pin numbers or send me a picture.?

I would go with a 24 volt fan and use the power for your motors. Less chance of noise on the arduino side. I bought this one a while back: Vktech 4010S 24V Cooler 40x10mm Brushless DC Fan 7 Blades Mini Cooling Radiator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NIA351K/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_MFN.wbGY38406

The gshield just passes through the 5v pin from the arduino. You will probably need to add header pins. (I’ll try to get a picture)

It looks like Marc uses pwm 3 and gnd. I am kind of new to arduino else than just using it for what the gshield said, so it was new to me.
