I finally found a use for this set of concentric WS2812B rings: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/RGB-LED-Ring-WS2812-5050-RGB-LED-with-Integrated-Drivers/32372470495.html

I assembled them into new guts for my lamp. The old ones were a little too 2 dimensional (and borrowed from another project). Each of the rings is rotated 90 degrees from the last. They’re driven with a Photon.

Thanks for the extra pics. Looks smooth and nicely illuminated.

Ended up taking mine apart the other day and am just focusing on handmade bamboo and (in the near future) brazed wire lanterns. I do, however have a bamboo cube with 3 sets of 8 LED’s, each angled 90 degrees apart and their pattern is somewhat 3D’ish like yours.

Thanks, Marc! Sounds cool, Andrew, looking forward to seeing some pics and video!

Looks awesome! Gotta make sure my wife doesn’t see the video or it’s going to be added to my projects list!
