I downloaded this .dxf file and want to convert it to gcode.

I downloaded this .dxf file and want to convert it to gcode. I want the skull itself and the teeth/mouth to be the top surface of my material and everything that is white should be milled away 1.5mm deep. So no cutout. The material is about 7mm thick.

I have tried to work with CamBam but i can not get it to succesfully export gcode.

Are there other CAM softwares that will run on linux?
I prefer something where i can click on a section and tell it to mill it away at a certain depth.

You can use http://millcrum.com/ or http://jscut.org/jscut.html

At what point in the CamBam process are you getting errors?

The mesh tools in CamBam have always worked well for me for transferring .stl to a cut.

If you can convert it to SVG, you can use http://makercam.com too

@Miguel_Sanchez Thank you. I accually also have this file in svg format.

I will check them all out.

@Mano_Biletsky_Open_M I agree with the SVG and http://makercam.com

I run Vectric Cut2d under Wine in Linux. Works just as well if not faster. CamBam did not do it for me. Showing it’s age. Cut2d so much quicker.

Thank you. For the moment i’m using jscut. Wich works ok for what i am trying to do. I will try them all though. Vectric cut2d i haven’t tried yet. Next up…
