I built the master candidate release today. I am hoping one of you might have some time to kick it around. Its basically edge but with some more optimizations / fixes. Any takers? I will email you the link if you want to. I don’t want to post links to pre-released files on the community. Shoot me a comment or msg me @Riley_Porter .

I can give it a try.

k emailed you.

FYI this is for TinyG v8 users.

@Riley_Porter_ril3y I would like to give it a try if it wont stop me from using @ChiliPeppr at the moment I am on 438.02 but would like to update, I have been fighting the update util, tried on both windows and mac and neither work. The open ticket in the bug tracker describes what I am seeing https://github.com/synthetos/TinyG-Updater/releases

@Riley_Porter_ril3y @y_milord another (perhaps dumb) question. When I update the firmware will all my motor/axis config be lost?

Yes. I would use the config backup utility that @cmcgrath5035 wrote thats baked into @Kevin_Hauser config widget in @chilipeppr1 .

Anthony: If your want, the How to is here: https://github.com/synthetos/TinyG/wiki/Chilipeppr-Archive-and-Restore-Parameters-for-tinyG

Unfortunately step 1 “Upload from tinyg” does not actually populate the text area, so when I save the contents are empty. In the JS console I see “Unexpected token e” as the error. I am on 438.02 currently, but there must be something in my config causing a bomb. Maybe @cmcgrath5035 can help?

eek? 438.02 is kind of old. This is @Riley_Porter 's fault! (that was a link to synthetos) Ok. So just do this. $$ in a terminal like coolterm. Save that output and make sure you captured all of it. Then you can just re-set it. Its a good practice to save your config either way

Anthony : I will have a hard time debugging at the moment, no machine to interface. And I would not try anyway until the dust settles on the configureTinyG widget stalling. My widget code is separate from configuretinyG but shares a lot of the code used.
My widget expects you to have $tv=1 and tinyg in mm mode (use G21), but your problem does not appear related to those.
Widget should work with 438.02 if CP does.
You can also enter $$ in the CP Serial Console and cut paste the results to a text file.

For anyone trying to update to 440.16, but having problems with tinyGUpdater and or avrdude, I posted a procedure for Windows users that seems to be working well for some troublesome tinyGs : https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/devtinyg/B9xSJaupzNQ

Riley posted 440.17 to http://synthetos.github.io/ last night.
For Windows users, I updated the simplified avrdude how-to: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/devtinyg/B9xSJaupzNQ/NDOABfAeheIJ
