I am considering some type of LED mask or full head cover and the easiest way to get it shaped is using paper mache. Now, the question is, has anyone covered barebones LED strips with paper mache? Do the continue working as intended or the glue/water/paper combination, even after drying, shorts the circuits?

This is way outside my expertise, but it seems like you’d want to waterproof them with silicone before covering in paper mache.

They don’t like getting wet, they might work, some probably won’t. Even after they dry out.

Make the mask, attach the LEDs, then cover them with fabric or similar

What about covering the LED strips with saran wrap. Seems like that should protect them long enough for doing the paper machete work as long as you’re careful.

you may find some inspiration here? https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/ElecDashTron

I know of ElecDashTron. I want to have some more cover than the textile he (?) uses.

I will grab a piece of LED strip and do some tests. Will report back.

@Jesus_Climent Ahoi, I’ve tried a whole bunch of different stuff. If you want to water proof them completely try Liquid Latex(the kind they use for special effects make up). I made a few pieces a while back here is one https://www.instagram.com/p/BM41f85gdEd/ and the same in action https://www.instagram.com/p/BM8Obg3FLwE/ . Another thing i have tried is Spray on Rubber, the product I used is called Plasti Dip https://plastidip.com/ here is one example https://www.instagram.com/p/BOESrFmg1rP/ you need to apply at least 10 coats with 1 hour curing in between. I would love to try vacuuming over the top, but don’t have access to one. Shoot over any questions, happy to help!
