Hey everyone. Does anybody have any idea what these type of pots are called?

Hey everyone. Does anybody have any idea what these type of pots are called? I took them off of a old guitar fx petal, but they aren’t the resistance that I want. I can’t seem to find them new anywhere.

Those could be push-lock pots (meaning when pushed in, rotating the knob will not change the wiper’s position). Mouser: http://goo.gl/BN3O0m

The best I’ve been able to find was a pot with a clicky switch, not a spring switch like that (not even sure if that’s the best term).

What action does the knob all the way out do? Does it pull it low or high?

Usually guitar pots are lock-push because once you set it, you don’t want to accidentally change it while you’re playing, so you push them in to lock them. It doesn’t do anything electrically, it just locks the wiper in place (or rather, the shaft moved vertically and disengages the wiper.)

These don’t lock the resistance value. They are still changing values when in the retracted position. They are just meant to hide inside a enclosure when not in use then pop out to adjust the settings.

ok, so there is no additional off/on switching, just physical hiding?

Correct. They are meant to hide the knob so it can’t be moved as easily. Sparkfun has them in 10k ohm. They call them push lock pots.
