Hello all, I’m a student looking to get a few more responses for my 3D printer research. It’s just 10 questions especially for those who have ready access to a printer. Thank you for your input!
(The first link is the survey, the second the results, if interested!)

Question 7 is kind of rigged. I have the best of both worlds with a printrbot.

@Thomas_Cox Sorry… I wanted people to take a definite stance. That’s my fault.

You can always hack to better results!

@Charles_Reiche Agreed! That’s what I was thinking when I added it.
I think that question highlights the difference between proprietary (closed-source) and maker (open-source) printers.

Closed source doesn’t mean better results though. Same evaluation with price.

@Charles_Reiche I guess the expectation would be that more cost and less control through the design process for the consumer would mean a return in quality in the end product. But of course, that is not always the case.
The question is really controversial within 3D printing circles, which is why I added it! I’m trying to get a gauge for which way the community of consumers leans.

It would have been interesting to see the CAD software and slicer software listed separately

Yea the software and training section should have been broke out between cad and slicers. I learned cad in school but slicers on my own.

Everyone else got the fact that expensive/closed doesn’t mean good.

@Joe_Spanier I learned that way as well. I will be looking at that in my paper. Thank you for the input!
