custom Buttons

Basically i am trying to create a standalone 3 axis CNC machine, i want to be able to insert my sd card, select the file, jog the machine to the block going to be milled. set it as the origin point. and then start the cut.
I want to try and have physical buttons (arrow keys etc)
Any ideas?

Hey !

Have you looked here : http://smoothieware.org/panel ?

Panels allow you to configure up/down buttons on any pin you want ( in addition to the encoder selector the panels usually come with ).
