Anyone up to develop an alternative hosting site for designs?
At least help in brainstorming the ideas and coming up with options (e.g. where to host the files and images)?

Someone suggested MediaGobil.

Looks like MediaGoblin has a modular interface to add storage facilities. One already exists for OpenStack.

pro: replicated (default: 3 copies)
con: servers require a filesystem with extended attributes switched on. Could do this if people contribute server-space directly or by running a ready made VM on servers.
