And there it is, a 10W LED driven through a WS2801 stand alone chip. Purposely underpowered to roughly 0.7W, and camera adjusted to get this picture taken. Left at normal settings the camera was getting swamped and couldn’t “see” anything. One thing learned: when playing with a board you made a few years ago, make sure the physical board you’re playing with is the same version you are looking at on screen. I was off by one revision and it happens to be when I swapped VCC and GND lines. Whoopsies.
