I now once again have a nice flat surface to print on.

1st thing that stands out is the excellent heat dissipation quality of aluminium, unfortunately this mean the bottom layer cools quite rapidly and loses adherence, something I had no issues with on the acrylic till it began to warp.

But I am still enjoying my foray into 3D Printing.

We tried ground aluminium plate, to get a dead flat surface, and it worked well but we ended up using glass more often because of adhesion problems.

Now that I have a good solid base to work off I my get a glass sheet and clip it on/over the aluminium plate if it gives me too much trouble.

You should really have a heated bed. It will help with adherence and any warp. Get a silicone heater or something on it.

And you’re probably going to need a layer of Kapton tape on top of the heated aluminum plate to get your plastic to stick to it.
