Yesterday, I discovered that Fry’s Electronics (in particular the one in Downer’s Grove, illinois) sells PLA filament, and for a very reasonable price. Now I don’t have to pay or wait for shipping the next time I need a kilogram of plastic. They have a variety of colors, including gold, silver, and glow in the dark, in both 1.75mm and 3mm. They also have ABS, although I still don’t have a good way to use ABS yet.

Thanks for the tip. I went and got some last night.

How does it print?

It’s been a busy weekend, I’ll try it out today and report back.

@Mark_Estefanos , so far I’ve done about 4 hours of printing in natural/clear PLA. It’s no better or worse than the stuff I had been getting from PrintrBot and for less money. I was expecting it to be a little more milky once printed but seeing the infill is kinda cool.

I bought PLA & ABS since the price for either is $25 per spool (1kg). Just as a note, I always check availability from the Fry’s website so I don’t make the drive for nothing.
