Working on an extended XATC. I use “Gator Grip’s” to remove the pre-position stopper. The carousel is used for more torque, may somebody knows how?
Are you going to have the carousel rotate and hang off the side of the 3040 such that only one slot is in position for your Z-head to grab?
That’s an interesting approach. Originally I was going to have an array of your tool changers along one edge.
Frank, what size Gator Grip is that? An ER11 nut is 19mm. I see a 7-19mm that’s $7 and a 11-32mm that’s $28. I’m guessing you’re using the larger one? The cheaper one is just at the edge of being large enough it seems.
@jlauer my er11 collets have 17mm and it works with the up to 19mm gator grips.
Frank, is the carousel turning freely? If it is, are you catching the tool and then by turning the carousel through xy-motion apply more rotational force?
+Werner Drasch You got it! Congratulation Yes, i’ll move the machine in the arc form and block the spindle shaft. Now we can repeat and very accurate set the torque of the collet nut. If we want to loose then we move backwards over the centers of gator grip’s (arc).
