Wow… one question … so much more to think about ! It would seem that Spectra might be the best solution as it is a single element . It only leaves ensuring no slip under high acceleration. It would seem that it will take tension fine but how much before the side load on the motor bearings start to suffer ?

For those who recommend toothed belts, do you think that a slanted tooth profile (like a helical gear) would reduce the creation of artifacts? If so, how hard would it be to get matching belts and gears like that?
