Whats the best option for the cheap chinese diode laser kits to get someone up and running with laserweb engraving?
My Dads considering getting this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122229170039 but I think he’d be much better off with something laserweb compatible. He’s capable of cutting some wires and rewiring things to a new board, but doesn’t want to spend too much. The Cohesion3d mini board is more than the price of the laser in this case so that seems overkill, is a cheap GRBL on arduino the best deal for something like this?
Thats a potential option, he might really like assembling a machine from scratch. Is openbuilds providing a kit ready to go?
Definitely, I’ll let him know.
@Ben_Delarre I bought something similar to this about a year ago, but it was 500mw. If you look at the specs, it has a tiny working area (38mm x 38mm). Also, at 1 watt, engraving is possible, but “cutter” is probably an exaggeration.
Yeah, he only wants to engrave leather so it doesn’t need to be a proper cutter.
+Peter van der Walt didn’t see any news this week, delay in press release?
