What should be minimum torque for nema 17 motor for using it in 1.75 mm based extruder.like mininilistic mk7
Actually I got only one option. It’s 43N.cm torque motor.
NEMA17 longnecks FTW.
?
I’ve only worked with classic geared extruders (and 3mm fila), but 43Ncm sounds like it’ll do just fine. Especially with 1.75mm filament.
I’d say that 30N•cm would be a good minimum for a standard 11ish-mm effective diameter drive gear. A smaller drive gear could do it with less. For instance, the Type-A machine uses a direct-drive Nema14 extruder with about half that torque, but it uses a drive gear with about half the normal diameter (comparable to the hobbed bold on a wade’s-style extruder), which has the same effect as gearing it down 2:1. I had calculated that this should work before I met them in NY and saw that they had actually done it.
