what is sonocybin?
here is the expression i did for the pure data conference in nyc a couple of weeks ago.
the system, sonocyb1 is a raspberry pi network attached to my arms, interpretting 3d printed exoskeletal hand interfaces made up of an accelerometer and 5 pressure sensors and 5 switches, all printed with conductive filament, and fed through an arduino pro mini to the hardware serial pins on the raspberry pi, hence the location on my arm.
pure data is the brains and interprets the sensor data and attaches it to gestural modules. those gestures are then attached to noise generators and filters and delay.
theres no looping in this performance. everything is generated in the moment and maintained physically.
some of the mutations are interesting. its really nice to just be playing it for a while, but i also note some glarring issues to be resolved mostly hapic theories in regards to holding the fingers in a defind start poition rather than just remembering to do it. stuff like that. it was a fun night and im glad this dev stage was documented
