What do we all think it is about Kickstarter that gets 3D Printing projects

What do we all think it is about Kickstarter that gets 3D Printing projects so successfully backed? Just hype? http://www.prsnlz.me/articles/rigidbot-3d-printer-on-kickstarter/

Yes. Imagine someone taking a well known open source design, a design that is being used in many free and commercial products, gives it a new name and tries to fund a company around it. Does that make sense ?

Sure. Why not? There’s plenty of room to grow, and if they happen to get a better, cheaper or faster way to push out a new or existing design, how does that not help?

I think the more ways people have to get started with 3D printing the better. It should drive up quality and drive down cost and benefit the movement as a whole.

@Shachar_Weis , sure, why not? You have to keep in mind that even just getting all the correct parts into one kit, with instructions can be worth quite a bit. Not everyone has the time or inclination to source all of their own stuff and struggle through instructions that are less than clear. Think how much most people complain about having to assemble IKEA furniture!
