Do we need to subscribe to individual categories?

Hi Gallen,
In Discourse you do not need to “subscribe” to individual categories per se but it is very flexible in how you can choose to follow/not follow a Category/Topic. You can see these topics in the site help/feedback section. (if you click on the small down arrow on the top right of the links below they will expand so you can read the post without leaving the current post) By default you are following every category.

Following Categories

You have the ability to fine tune how you are notified about different posts / comments / mentions in each category / sub category of the forum. Just go to a category / sub category and select the circle button beside “+New Topic”. You will see a list of options of how you are notified about that category. This can be for a top level category or sub categories. So if you are strictly a CNC person and do not care about K40 Lasers you could completely mute the K40 Lasers category if you desired…

How to "Follow" a post

Below every forum post is a rectangular button with a circle in it - Click it to see different options for notifications to this post. [Following%20a%20post] There may also be a circle button on the right side if there are a number of replies to the post. [image] If you click “Watching” you’ll be notified when anyone replies, but without having to add a “Following” reply of your own (like in G+), which would clutter the original post.

If you want to add a category to the Chillipepr Cat just let us know and it will be added.
