To use belt drives or not?
I am busy looking around for motors and drivers so spending a bit of time on forums. There’s seems to be a debate on whether or not to use belt drives or connect directly to the screws. What’s the thoughts in here on this? Personal I would prefer to go direct more for the simplicity.
Yes that was my feeling as well but with some going direct seems to be a major no. Other than the chance to increase torque I just don’t see an advantage. I guess packaging is another advantage if your tight on space.
Using belt drive you kan change speed or power on screws and it’s easy to hide motors in konstruction. That’s all. I like belt drive. Sorry for english.
Directly to the screws give much more precise machining is my experience, I use belt only when it´s necessary. But there is as many opinions as there is users, I can only speak for my self.
