This is a poster I put together showing many uses for 3D printing in the body and for medical patients. All of these have been done as of 2014. The future promises many more applications such as printed retina replacements and even 3D printed livers and kidneys for human transplant.
I could go for that custom scoliosis brace. Add lacing and it cold double as a modern corset.
When I saw that brace, I checked out what was currently being used and it looked like a straight jacket without arms. No way to put it on yourself. This one was made from a full body scan and prints in 2 pieces, a front and back that can be closed by the person wearing it.
Thank you for the quick response. I was reminded of some of the B&D corsets I saw in use in Southern California. The subject was not meant to get out of it on their own. (oh to be young again)
This is awesome! Mind if I print copies for Events?
Sure Laird. No problem. If not clear enough i can email you the original.
That would be great. I’m thinking of printing it 11x17, so the more pixels the better!
Hey Artie, anyway you’d mind uploading the original somewhere and linking it? I’d love to use some for events as well and I have no doubt others would too. Great infographic, thanks!
Good idea Patrick. I’ll upload the larger version and add a link.
That would be fantastic :).
