This is a definite step forward for 3D printing in the medical space. I wonder when the first person will have Vulcan/ Elf ears printed - for permanent installation?

Titanium has been in use for a while in 3D printing, for certain bone replacements (especially things like mandibles). It’s also definitely possible to 3D print cartilage, and lots of research is going into not just replacement knee tech, but also replacement spinal disks and other things that are currently all-but-irreplaceable in the body.

A bio-compatible polymer that can be 3D printed is definitely very suave.

This is very cool. The medical applications are almost certain to lead the cosmetic ones, but once printing bio-inert plastics and cartilages is proven and routine, I’m sure the body modification folks will start to find new ways to shock and awe.

@kevin_palmer they already do vulcan/elf ear implants. There’s no need to drag 3D printing into it.

MUST HAVE ELF EARS.
