The new Thingiverse layout seems to not work at all when your Internet is reduced to 64kb/s.
It’s supposed to be slow but still work and show progress. :frowning:
Nowadays the website is serveral times as bandwidth consuming as the designs it hosts.

Isn’t there a way to switch to a no frills mobile version?

For example it insists that there where “problems saving this thing”… Except I didn’t save or edit anything.
There isn’t even a “save” button loaded within the last 30 minutes.
Other websites work fine. Slow but usable.

It also insists that my thing, published weeks ago, is not yet published.

Looks like some part of the Javascript makes assumptions about the time to load things or doesn’t do retries on Ajax requests.

I lodged a thingiverse issue re this in Feb, no reply.
I suggested they get a couple of non-US VPNs to test with.
Disqus seems to be particularly bad. I think they said they were working on getting rid of Disqus.

Marcus, could you open a ticket at http://support.thingiverse.com/discussion/new with some more details, particularly the issue about a published thing not showing (which shouldn’t be effected by your slow connection)

Oh it’s showing.
It’s just that the edit-page displays ALL messages it could ever display at the same time and never finishes loading.

done.
Have fun with the network simulator!

@Marcus_Wolschon Thanks!
