Testing Picengrave vs Laserweb4
I wanted to see how well a commercial program called picengrave5 works. I used the same 600dpi image on both programs with 75mm/sec engrave speed and .15mm laser diameter pass. Same piece of 3mm Baltic birch plywood. Actually image size is 90x72mm
The first image using Laserweb4 has much clearer text than Picengrave. The horizontal lines say “Picengrave Demo”. That’s goes away when you purchase the program.
The resulting gcode file size is much larger for Picengrave (6mb vs 1.5mb)
This is just a quick test and you should do your own test before deciding if Picengrave is worth purchasing. I know which one I’ll keep using.
