Teaser for printer I have nearly finished. Design goals:

Mostly 3d printed.
Minimize cost.
Build area 500mm X 200mm X 300mm.
Share as open source once done.
Integrated cable management.
Extremely rigid structure and accurate positioning system.

Three axis, three different drive systems. Uses hang ceiling T-Bar for linear motion. At time of video, about 1Kg of material run through it.

I still have some cabling to complete and organizing the necessary files for uploading.

I have been using Thingiverse to share STL files. Can anyone suggest any reason to change for this project?

I don’t have a problem with thingiverse as a user but a lot of content creators stay away due to their terms of service which essentially say that anything you upload makerbot can do with as they please. Entirely up to you. For a printer design, I would probably use youimagine or github.

Don’t use thingiverse for open source projects.

Github is where I’d post everything.

People still think makerbot can ripoff your designs? Garbage. That was all a storm in a teacup and dummy spit. READ the language. “license … solely … in the Site and Services.”. That does not let them print it for example, UNLESS your CC licence allows anyone to do so.
No I don’t want to start a war.
