Steampunk plane

Made the model for a cnc pattern but not really happy with it so trying to see how it looks like as a 3d print.

All sliced up into 8 pieces to fit my printer. I have the plane dimensions right now at about 22 inches long which is too big. I think 12 -18 is a better size.

I still haven’t decided whether I am going to print it.

Hmm, a few Gee Bee vibes…

That is a sweet looking racer.

Distinctive, and distinctly scary to fly, apparently.

Finished printing overnight. Still needs a little bit of sanding and glue up. Total 8 pieces and just under a roll of filament.

It is about 14 inches long. The wing section barely fit at that dimension without further slicing of the model.

Supposedly oil brush bronze paint. There is copper flecks in the paint but looks more like pewter. Either way project is complete. 2 coats of lacquer to seal the model and 3 coats of paint. Once the smell dissipates a bit I’ll add it to my model menagerie.
