Started some printing today and noticed that 11amp power terminal on my RAMPS 1.4

Started some printing today and noticed that 11amp power terminal on my RAMPS 1.4 board was very hot to the touch.

I shut things down, took a look at the wires which terminate in a screw terminal block on my ramps board. Nice black coating… Looks like the screws were a little loose and caused some arcing which created a high resistance connection.

I’ll get back to printing later tonight and see how things turn out.

Just a reminder to check things out occasionally.

Yep. Same thing happened to me last year. If those connections aren’t good and tight the current ends up just passing through a few whiskers of copper, these heat up quite well and lead to smoky smells.

I added a relay to take the load off of the board to the heat bed.
