So these days, here are exciting things happening in the hackable electronics space, for instance, people are using RasPi’s as controllers, often with attached Arduino’s to do the actual realtime command and control loops, and the RasPi to handle the high level tasks.

Has anyone built such a setup yet? It should be possible with only a little effort to put a RasPi in front of most of the RepStrap electronics packages and get a system that you can simply log into a web interface and upload an stl file, with it handling everything else. Even cooler than SD-based printing.

The other interesting development is Arduino based on the 32 bit arm microarchitecture. Has anyone worked on that yet?

Check out https://github.com/foosel/Cura#webui you can only upload Gcode for now (not stl, the raspi probably doesn’t have the horsepower anyway), but other than that it’s becoming a ramps+arduino+raspberrypi stack that has a web interface and can run all by itself, wirelessly if you like

And I’m still working on it, after I finished the whole “visiting the relatives” things today

There are a couple of Bukobot users doing it. http://forum.bukobot.com/
