So I was tired of having each spool holder I could find pull tension

So I was tired of having each spool holder I could find pull tension on my extruder so I designed my own. It’s still a work in progress but it works pretty well.

This spool holder feeds the stock directly into the top of the extruder no bending, twisting, or going around corners to get the stock to the extruder.

The bearing fenders need to be a little taller. And the bearing pegs need to be a bit more snug.

Very nice, I am a fan of an extruder that Ben Heck made that was a spring lever to retain tension on the filament and makes it easy to change.

It’s a Nice extruder but I like the non hinged version. My hinged tensioners kept splitting.

I liked this kind of spool mount as well, until I used some cardboard spools that ended up getting wedged between the bearing and the side flange.

Ya I can see that being a problem. Luckily I’ve never ran across cardboard spools.

Once I get it a little more tuned I’ll put the files up and see how ppl like it.
