So I have noticed in some prints the printed result has been “liney” were you can see the physical layers very clearly. Other prints I have seen they are considerably less so. Is this a design aspect, a resolution/quality thing? Does it effect the durability of an object? One would think that the areas where two layers meet would be exceptionally weak in comparison.

There are a number of variables that need to be in sync. Owner operators can fine tune these variables whereas a more expensive machine could automate feed back for those variables.

Thickness of layers, cooling, temp of the heat plate.

speed of the head movement too…

I assume that you don’t have a printer to experiment. The thinner the layers are the less visible they are. At 0,1mm they get difficult to distinguish. If the print is polished then you don’t see them anymore.

i don’t have a printer, partly do to funds partly due to lack of research.
