Saturday night I tried my first prints with the printrboard on my cupcake. It was mostly a lot of stopped jobs do to the nozzle running into the print (layer height issues I guess?) before it all fell apart due to binding on my leadscrews.

Fast forward to today. Following the recommendation of Dan L in the Vintage Makerbots Google Group, I made some adjustments to my leadscrews. I pulled them out, removed everything, cleaned them off, compared them to a handful of other M8 rods I had, picked the 4 that seemed straightest to me, and put those into my bot. I left out some hardware following Dan’s example, and spent a good 10 minutes aligning the pulleys (just in case).

I have just hooked everything up, and moved 30 mm up and down with zero binding. And I haven’t even oiled the rods. I’m extremely pleased. I hope the behavior continues and I can get to some printing.
