Resources for commercial CAD & CAM systems

There are many commercial CAD and CAM systems on the market. Here is a list of official and unofficial support resources for some common brands.

Maker Forums is not affiliated with these manufacturers, and is not a support forum for their products. If you need help with using these tools, please work with the manufacturers support channels first, before asking for help here.

ArtCAM

ArtCAM was a part of the AutoDesk suite until July 2018; when it was discontinued.

Please see this: ArtCAM | Autodesk page; they list official support channels that are still available.

After November 1, 2018, customers can continue to access self-service support via the Autodesk Knowledge Network (AKN) and peer-to-peer support via the Autodesk Community’s ArtCAM Forum.

Please comment here if you need help finding support for any commercial CAD or CAM tools not listed above.

If you find a good resource not listed above please also let us know and we’ll add it to the list

(ob. discl., I work for Carbide 3D)

Carbide Create is available in two modes:

  • bundled with Carbide 3D machines:
  • the separate “Pro” mode which simultaneously allows using Carbide Create with pretty much any machine and adds 3D modeling (intended for decorative work) and 3D toolpaths, as well as some additional toolpath options such as Engraving, and Ramping in, and REST machining:

We have video training at:

and there is an unofficial wiki page at:

and an unofficial (and private) Facebook group:

and an official forum area at:

and of course, many tutorials for this show up at:

and I wrote up a bit at:

There are a couple of projects on Github which specifically mention it, but not sure if they are still relevant — if someone knows one is still useful, let me know via a PM and I’ll add it.
