Hi everyone,
I am an architecture student. For our studio project this semester, I am planning to create a model that involves constructing a track on a vertically placed wooden board and moving an object (a light bulb) along this track.
As I am not specialized in this area, I am seeking assistance. Could anyone tell me how I can realize this idea? Additionally, could anyone let me know what materials and tools I would need to purchase?
A sketch of the concept would help keep our suggestions on track {bad pun}.

It sounds like you want to use a standard camera track system, but just put whatever light you are using in place of the camera?

Maybe a bicycle chain could be used with a few sprockets. Look for an old bike with a derailer unit in the back wheel. Those little gears could come in handy.
